Rice made with bone broth

🎶 Look at this rice, we made this rice for you. It was real easy to do. It is called Yellow. 🎶

This simple recipe takes rice to a new level and allows itself to be adapted to many cuisines. For a Mexican spin, add in a tin of tomatoes, along with black beans, fresh chilli, coriander and a healthy dash of cumin. Onions, olives and lemon juice give it a Mediterranean twist. Throw in some sultanas, cinnamon and cumin and you’ve got yourself a one way ticket to Morocco.

Add in some chicken, top with a fried egg, or pack it with vegetables for a delicious lunch time rice salad. The possibilities are endless! But whatever you choose to do, this rice acts as a delicious base and is a great way to incorporate bone broth into your daily meals.

Give it a go and let us know what you think!

What you need:
(serves 4)

2 tsp of olive oil
1 onion, finely diced
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 cups of basmati rice
1 pack of Sadie’s Kitchen Comforting Chicken Bone Broth
1 cup of water
1 tsp of ground tumeric
Salt & pepper to taste

What to do:

Rinse the rise under cold water – leave to drain
Heat the oil in the pan on a medium heat and fry the onion for 2 minutes
Add in the rice and garlic – fry for a further 3 minutes or until the rice begins to lightly toast
Add in the broth, water and tumeric
Season with salt and stir
Turn up the heat and bring to the boil
Once boiling, lower the heat right down and pop on a lid
Leave the rice on the heat for 25 minutes – do not take off the lid during this time
After 25 minutes, remove from the heat but leave the lid on for a further 10 minutes or until ready to serve
Fluff with a fork

Enjoy! x

Top tip: If adding veg or beans, add them in with the onions at the start. And try your best not to check on it once you put that lid on. Trust us!
